Local elections are taking place on Thursday 4 May – and for the first time at these elections, voters will be required to show photo identification at a polling station.

A number of forms of ID will be acceptable such as passport, driver’s licence and an Older/Disabled Persons concessionary travel pass or Freedom pass. Registered electors who do not have valid ID can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate – this can be done on the gov.uk website or by requesting a paper form from the council. They can also assist anyone at the council offices in Saffron Walden with completing a form and taking their photo.
