It is with deep regret that we have decided to cancel all our January Coffee Mornings, this is due to the high levels of Covid at present. The safety of our service users, volunteers, friends, family members and staff are our priority. We look forward to welcoming you all back for our February sessions.
Coffee Mornings
Support 4 Sight first started running coffee mornings for its members in Saffron Walden over 20 years ago.
Coffee mornings offer those with visual impairment or blindness the chance to meet up and share experiences with others in the same or a similar situation.
No matter how much one may care or be professionally trained in this area, the best people to problem solve issues around visual impairment or blindness are usually those affected.

One of our members described a group of visual impaired or blind people as a community. Support 4 Sight recognises this and sees the value of gathering people with sight-loss together because, after many years’ experience, we know such communities not only learn from one another and that this in itself reduces isolation, they also forge valuable friendships and bonds.
Our coffee mornings, as well as reducing isolation, also encourage independence and the spirit needed to socialise.
Going out, eating out or just meeting other people with sight-loss can, for some, be difficult, embarrassing and simply not worth the effort. Experiencing social events with other people who really understand helps so much.
Support 4 Sight now has 7 coffee mornings in Braintree, Chelmsford, Great Dunmow, Witham, Epping and Harlow as well as Saffron Walden.
Each month we have helped to reduce isolation of in excess of 165 people.

Social Trips
At Support 4 Sight we run regular social trips, these are usually run in areas where we hold our coffee mornings.
In the winter months we normally go out for pub lunches but when the warmer weather arrives we go on boat trips, visits to country parks and historical buildings. We are always open to suggestions for other venues to visit.
These social trips are a great way to meet other visually impaired people, and make some new friends.
Our most popular trips last year were our Boat trips, RHS Hyde Hall and Imperial War Museum Duxford.
