The Rainbow Group is an award winning collaboration of local sight loss organisations in England.

Steve Johnson is a visually impaired leader, app creator, and outdoor enthusiast based in the UK. Living with retinitis pigmentosa, he has spent over two decades leading people, projects, and large-scale change in corporate environments while also building practical, accessibility-first technology from lived experience.

He is the creator of Black Lens, an iOS camera app designed to help blind and low-vision users take photos independently through high-contrast design, voice guidance, and haptic feedback. Outside of work and tech, Steve is passionate about kayaking, training, camping, and pushing the boundaries of what life with sight loss can look like.

His work and storytelling focus on inclusive design, independence, and building systems—personal or professional—that actually work in the real world.
