My name is Zsuzsi and I have been the Employment Manager at Support 4 Sight since the service started in 2019.
My days are varied; from responding to referrals and contacting clients to offering information, advice and guidance on working-age benefits and concessions.
While most appointments are one on one, I often run group sessions as I believe in the power of peer support.
The employment service assists working age people who are looking for paid employment and people who are in work but struggling with their jobs due to their sight loss. I also support some people to take early retirement if they can`t stay in employment, as well as assisting pepole with self-employment or voluntary roles.
A crucial point of my work is to be up to date with current regulations, legislation, and employment law at all times.
I am also involved as founder, organiser and facilitator of an award winning collaboration called the Rainbow Group.
The group was set up at the beginning of Covid with other sight loss charities across the UK to ensure we stayed in touch virtually with clients and members, it has since grown into a popular fortnightly fixture.
So, a usual day for me will have 6-8 client appointments in the morning, then a quick 20-minute walk with my dog Lottie to get some fresh air. Afternoons are spent contacting newly referred clients and most days there is also a networking & engagement meeting to attend. A rich and varied caseload that keeps me on my toes and actively supporting people across Essex!
