What a memorable day Support 4 Sight had cruising along the River Stort with Canalability on the 28th of May.
We set off from Harlow aboard two boats, The Challenger and Stort Daybreak, heading gently downstream toward Sawbridgeworth. One of the highlights of the journey was the hands-on challenge of helping to operate one of the locks! Along the riverbanks, we were delighted by the sight of swans and their cygnets, as well as Mandarin ducks with their ducklings – truly a joy to witness in such peaceful surroundings. Some of our group even had the opportunity to steer the boat, guided by Canalability’s fantastic volunteers, adding an extra layer of fun and discovery to the day.
On The Challenger, volunteers and passengers were treated to a steady stream of Richard’s famous jokes – if you know, you know! Tea and coffee flowed freely throughout the journey, and on our return trip we indulged in delicious scones with jam and cream.
We ended our trip with a relaxed lunch at The Moorhen pub, which gave everyone the chance to mix, chat, and reflect on a lovely day spent together.
Thank you Canalability for such a calming and enjoyable experience – we’ll treasure the memories and hope to do it again next year!
