Today marks the 6-year anniversary of the start of the Support 4 Employment programme.
The service was the idea of our previous CEO, Gary Hyams, who felt it was paramount to provide blind and partially sighted people with information, advice and guidance on all things related to employment. Gary, along with our 3 partner charities, Southend in Sight, Basis and Essex Sight, secured funding for 5 years from the Big Lottery Community Fund in 2019.
Since then, the service has supported over 350 working age blind and partially sighted people across Essex, has won 2 National Awards and secured another 5 years of funding which will secure the service until 2029.
We are hoping to support more and more people in the coming years and carry on working towards creating an equal place where everyone can live, work and thrive.
