2024 sees the 30th Anniversary of Support 4 Sight, a charity in Essex supporting blind and partially sighted people, their families and carers.
To mark this milestone, we have been running our Quirky 30 Challenge; a series of sponsored events around the theme of 30, celebrating our community and its commitment to raising funds for the charity in whatever quirky ways can be thought of. Events have ranged from wearing 30 Christmas outfits throughout June, visiting 30 Wren churches, cycling 300 combined miles in Ride London Essex and climbing the 3000ft of Scafell Pike.
To mark the culmination of the Quirky 30 Challenge we shall be holding an ambitious 30 hour ‘Light in the Dark’ Bikeathon.
Elizabeth Sandwell, Outreach Coordinator said, “This will be a fitting finale for a charity that has, for the past 30 years, been a light in the dark for people living with and coming to terms with sight loss.”
This memorable event will run from 10am on Friday 6th December to 4pm on Saturday 7th December when we shall be cycling on a static bike to create enough energy to keep a light bulb lit for a full 30 hours!
The Keep The Light On Bikeathon is being held at our office base in Chelmsford, 17 Cottage Place, CM1 1NL.
