Support 4 Sight is recruiting for a number of Trustee positions.
This is an exciting opportunity to help guide and support an award winning Sight Loss Charity as it embarks on the next stage of its development.
Support 4 Sight enhances the quality of life and social involvement of people with a vision impairment, through the provision of information, guidance and services to blind, partially sighted and deafblind people, their carers and families in mid/west Essex and surrounding areas.
We now need to bring on board new trustees to continue to meet the needs of our community. We are looking for individuals who share our passion and drive for helping those with low vision and blindness come to terms with the social, emotional and practical issues that they face.
Our Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Charity, its financial health, and the probity of its activities in accordance with our governing documents, legal and regulatory guidelines. Trustees work closely with our Senior Leadership Team and play a valuable role in the development and sustainability of our services.
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have any of the following skills, attributes or experience in:
- Financial management
- Income generation, fundraising and enterprise
- Marketing and Communications
- The sight loss sector
- Personal experience of our services
- National and local voluntary sector, social enterprise, government and/or statutory bodies and collaborative Partnerships
- Digital strategy and IT
- Volunteering management and brokerage
Applicants must be able to attend (either in person or remotely) and contribute to, 4 Board meetings per year in addition to the AGM. All trustees also join one or more sub-committees, all of which meet four times per year. Trustees are expected to participate in Board development / planning sessions (typically one per year) and are encouraged to represent the charity at public events and take an active part in promotional activities.

A full induction as well as ongoing support will be provided and, while the role itself is voluntary, you may be reimbursed for any reasonable expenses incurred in connection with your role.
