Social Activities
What's on this page
We encourage social activities amongst visually impaired people in our area.
Bowls Club
We have launched a Bowls Club for visually impaired people, which will run during the summer months in Turpins' Indoor Bowls Club in Saffron Walden. Our volunteer Peter Whitehead, an experienced bowls instructor, heads the club. He provides instruction to our visually impaired members and is always on the lookout for new talent.
Organised Trips
Throughout the year, we organise day trips, such as shopping excursions and seaside visits, for visually impaired people and their carers. We also organise group transport and offer volunteer guiding to events, such as theatre trips.
If this is of interest to you and you require more information, please contact the Resource Centre for more details.
Future Plans
Over the next year, we are planning to organise a social club for visually impaired people in Uttlesford. Meeting once or twice a month, the club would provide a forum for social activities amongst VIPs, and include organised talks, games and refreshments. If you are interested in joining our social club, please contact the Resource Centre.
