Following our action packed evening with the Saffron Walden Cubs in January, on Friday 10 March we spent the evening with the 5th Saffron Walden Beavers, to raise awareness of blindness.

Working with a young audience aged 6-7 certainly kept us on our toes! The Beavers had the opportunity to wear blindfolds and look for items in a bag, as well as take part in a sound ball activity.

Masuma Ali said: “It was great to be invited to speak to the Beavers and raise awareness around sight loss.”

Our visit to the Beavers formed a part of their disability badge. They were a fantastic group to work with. Thank you to Saffron Walden Beavers for having us along

Alison, one of the Saffron Walden Beaver leaders said: “When you’re young and have no real experience of a particular disability, having someone like yourself come along and talk to them makes it easier for them to understand the impact being visually impaired has on a person’s life.”

If you would like us to visit your youth group, school, business or community centre to carry out some fun and engaging awareness raising activities, please get in touch with us by emailing info@support4sight.org.uk
