The Support 4 Sight Resource Centre is run by a team of paid members of staff, Madeleine Cassidy (Director), Paul Atkins (Centre Manager), Belinda Hudson (Support Worker), Christine Marshall (Services Development Office) and Jane McKie (Services Coordinator) and a dedicated team of volunteers who give up their valuable time to assist in any way that they can.
The centre is open Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 2:30 pm and operates as a drop-in centre for visually impaired people, their families and carers. Service Users can call into Support 4 Sight during these times simply for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat. The centre is well used by our regular service users who help each other overcome the every day problems they encounter simply by talking to each other.
The centre also offers information, advice and support to all visually impaired people within the West Essex area. If we cannot offer the advice requested, we can signpost them to other organisations who are able to help.
A wide range of equipment is on display in the resource centre. This equipment is available for demonstration purposes as well as for our service users to come in and operate themselves, with guidance from our trained staff and volunteers if required. Much of the equipment is also available to loan and try out before spending large sums of money on items that are not necessarily going to be of use.
