Support 4 Sight holds a Low vision service working with The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow as well as in our resource centres in Saffron Walden and Chelmsford.
Our low vision services have a wide range of equipment to help visually impaired people of all ages, including hand held magnifiers in a variety of shapes and handles (including those with in-built illumination) and stand magnifiers. We can also establish which low vision aids would be most useful for you through a thorough assessment with trained staff and volunteers.
Anti-glare Sunglasses which protect vision by filtering out Ultra Violet and Blue light can have a damaging effect on our vision if allowed to pass through the lens of the eye and on to the retina is also something that we can supply.
The assessment will also include information about other aids, such as large buttoned telephones, talking watches, and liquid level indicators to help increase your independence in your home. Our hospital low vision worker can also liaise with the medical staff to answer any queries you may have and also assist with the completion of CVI’s (Certificate of Visual Impairment)
You will also receive advice on many aspects of your everyday living.
We accept referrals from many sources which include, self-referrals to our centres to GPs and consultants to the hospital low vision service.
