HMS Warrior, large ship in Portsmouth

Weekend away to Portsmouth

On Friday 1st October we took a party of 33 people to Warner Lakeside Village Hayling Island, for our third mini break weekend. We were picked up by coach at around 11am on the Friday and travelled down to Hayling Island, arriving at 3pm, after getting settled into our rooms and unpacking, we all met in the bar for pre-dinner drinks. We then moved into the dining room where we enjoyed a delicious three course evening meal, the rest of the evening was spent enjoying the entertainment having a little dance and of course some compulsory drinks.

The next morning we woke to some horrendous weather with winds and torrential rain that lasted all day, so after breakfast some folks took part in a quiz, that they duly won.

Other people found other things to do that usually revolved around the bar, and of course afternoon tea had to be taken.

Another group of our folks took on a game of shuffle board, once again walking away with the winners certificate. After dinner we were treated to a Beatles tribute act, they were excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed listening and dancing to them.

On Sunday we had much better weather with even a few hours of sunshine, so after breakfast we all boarded the coach and headed of to Portsmouth for a few hours, once there people were free to do their own thing, some went to the historic dockyard, others went on a boat ride around the Royal Navy docks to see the modern war ships, others took the opportunity to do some retail therapy around Gun Warf Quay shopping centre.

Then it was back on the bus for another evening of eating, drinking and dancing.

On Monday morning following breakfast we boarded the bus for the journey back to Essex, getting back mid afternoon. Everyone I spoke to said they had had a really nice time, they are already talking about next years weekend, we are hoping to go to the Isle of Wight, I will keep you all informed as and when I can confirm next years arrangements.
